Piano / Artistic director
Markus Kreul studied at the music conservatories of Cologne and Munich. He won prizes at international piano competitions: Città di Tortona (Trophy Kawai), Jupiter Genoa (with Beethoven’s Special Prize), IBLA Grand Prize.
Active concert career as soloist and chamber musician in Germany, Belgium, Austria, Denmark, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, France and Greece, as well as in the U.S. and Canada.
Since 2009 he is a Honorary Member of the German-Italian Institute for “outstanding artistic achievements”.
Lecturer of workshops and master classes in Germany, Denmark, Italy, France and Greece, artistic director of the European Chamber Music Workshop, Altomuenster. (teaching languages??: English, German, French).
2013 he received the award “promoter for young musicians” by Sueddeutsche Zeitung.
Juror at national and international piano competitions
Recent publications are a CD of early, partially reconstructed piano works of Mozart (2011), premiere of a piano cycle by B. Putignano “Commentari” (2012), an EU-wide CD and film project and a Solo CD production for Redshift Records, Canada (2014) is in preparation.
For Markus Kreul it is a concern to present music in a new context showing the audience not just one but many ways to connect with her. Beside traditional performances unusual forms of presentation are important to him where piano music encounters literature or special locations – and sometimes even the brush of a painter.
